It is very important to eat a balanced and healthy diet which covers all classes of food, namely carbohydrate, protein, vitamin, fiber, water, mineral and fat in the right amounts every day to help provide sufficient nutrition your body needs.
Healthy diets, in general, are diets that are loaded with lower fats, salt, sugar, saturated fats, Tran’s fats, cholesterol and refined carbohydrate such as starch and sugar. They should include plenty amount of fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich wheat meal. Taking a healthy diet is also a healthy eating habit that will make our digestive system healthy, in which it is able to digest foods properly and absorb all the nutrients needed.
Unhealthy eating habits have been shown as a culprit in many diseases people suffer nowadays. When one consumes too much snacks, junk and fast foods, they are risking their lives for Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. In a similar fashion, eating too much fried and meat based foods can cause high blood pressure, heart related diseases and deposits of fats and cholesterol in the arteries.
Below some examples of unhealthy eating habits and their consequences are shown:
Gout

Gout is caused by an excessive intake of protein rich food. Its symptoms may include pain at the joints and the accumulation of uric acid at the joints. Gout can be alleviated by cutting down consumption of seafood (such as crabs, prawns), red meat and beans.
Anorexia Nervosa

A person is said to suffer from Anorexia Nervosa when he or she has an intense fear of gaining weight and/or starving to become overweight and thin. People suffering from this psychological illness will also have to suffer from heavy weight losses and malnutrition. They should seek the assistance of nutritionists and doctors to help guide them in attaining proper nutrition.
Kwashiorkor

If a diet contains an insufficient amount of protein, one will suffer from health problem as illustrated in the above picture. People with protein deficiency may have experienced symptoms like diarrhea and accumulation of body fluid. Kwashiorkor can be cured by taking foods rich in protein in the right amount every day.
Malnutrition

Malnutrition is a medical condition, in which ones diet contains either an excess amount of certain nutrients or a deficiency of certain other nutrients. The condition of malnutrition cannot be ignored as it will lead to many unexpected health issues.
Rickets

Rickets is caused by a deficiency of phosphorus, vitamin D and calcium. Bow-leggedness and soft bones are some of its common symptoms. This condition can be alleviated by taking the appropriate amount of foods rich in vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus and exposure to sunlight around 9-11a.m.
Diabetes Mellitus

Excessive intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates can cause a disease called Diabetes Mellitus. Its common symptoms include presence of sugar in gangrene and urine. By reducing the intake of sweetened and starchy food and also by exercising regularly, Diabetes Mellitus can be alleviated.

Scurvy is always linked to a deficiency in vitamin C. People suffering from Scurvy suffer from swollen and bleeding gums. Scurvy can be cured by taking the right amount of fresh leafy vegetables and fruits that are rich in vitamin C.
Obesity

Overeating can cause obesity. When one eats more than what their body needs to sustain life, they are at a higher risk of getting obese. It is caused by excessive calorie intake, in which the extra calorie in the form of fats will be deposited beneath one’s skin and around the organs which leads to a phenomenon called obesity. Being obese is dangerous to ones health, because it can cause other diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus.
